The Xerox AltaLink devices on campus have an Embedded Web Server. Users can upload document to print to get around the current Microsoft printing services vulnerability. You can print .pdf, .ps, .pcl, .prn, .xps, .jpg, .tif and .txt files directly using the Xerox Embedded Web Server without opening another application or using a print driver on your PC. The files can be stored on a local computer hard drive or network drive.
Submitting a Print Job from a Web Browser
Step 1: Access the printer's Embedded Web Server.
- From your computer, open a Web browser (e.g.Microsoft Edge)
- In the Web browser address field, enter the IP address of your printer and then press Enter. The Embedded Web Server home page will be displayed.
The IP address of your Xerox printer can be identified by using one of the methods described at the end of this document.
Step 2: In the Embedded Web Server, click Print tab. The Job Submission window will be displayed.
Step 3: In the Job Submission page, click Browse to locate your file.
Step 4: Click Open to select the file.
Step 5: Change or accept the default Printing configurations.
Step 6: To print the document, click Submit Job.
Finding the IP Address of the Xerox AltaLink
Use one of the following methods to determine the IP address of the printer, as required in step 1.
Method 1: From the Xerox Control Panel
Step 1: At the printer control panel, press the Home button.
Step 2: Touch Device then About
.The IP address appears in the Network section of the About screen for Wired IPv4 Address
Step 3: Record the IP address from the display.
Step 4: To return to the Home screen, press the Home button.
Method 2: From the Xerox Configuration Report
Step 1: At the printer control panel, press the Home button.
Step 2: Touch Device then Information Pages.
Step 3: Touch Configuration Report, then touch Print.The printer prints the Configuration report. The IP address appears in the Connectivity section of the Configuration Report for IPv4 or IPv6.
Step 4: To return to the Home screen, press the Home button.
