How to enable OneDrive "Files On-Demand" feature in Windows 10?

With Files On-Demand in Windows 10, you can access all your files stored in the cloud using Windows Explorer without having to download them and use storage space on your device. 

By default, this feature is not enabled. To enable it, follow these steps:

1. Right-click on the blue cloud icon in your Windows tray.

2. Select Settings form the pop-up menu.

3. Click on the Settings tab.

4. Check the box next to Save Space and download files as you use them

Once you enable this feature, your existing synced OneDrive files will be removed form your hard drive and replaced by placeholders. Each file will automatically download and become locally available when you double-click it in File Explorer or open it from within an app. Now you won’t have to make tough decisions about which files to sync to your PC.

New status icons in File Explorer make it easy to know whether your files are locally available or online files. For files that you need to access when you don’t have an Internet connection, you can easily make files or folders always available by right-clicking and selecting Always keep on this device.
