Body
Private channels is a feature that allows to divide members of a team into sub-teams. Each private channel has its own list of members which is a subset of the members of the larger team. Before a new member can be added to the private channel, they have to be first added as a member to the team that is hosting the private channel.
To add someone to a team if you are a designated team owner:
- Click on the three dots next to team's name and select Add Member.
- Start typing person's name, then select it when it appears as a suggestion. Repeat this step for each person you want to add as member (i.e. you can add multiple people at once).
- Click on Add button.
- Click on Close button.
Note that if you're a team owner, when you add someone to a team that person will become a member instantly. If you're not a team owner, when you add someone to a team your change is submitted as a request, and the team owner will need to accept it before you can proceed with adding this person to a private channel.
To add someone to a team if you are not a designated team owner:
- Click on the three dots next to team's name and select Add Member.
- Start typing person's name, then select it when it appears as a suggestion. Repeat this step for each person you want to add as member (i.e. you can add multiple people at once).
- Click on Send Request button.
To see all members of a team and their assigned roles, click on the three dots next to team's name and select Manage Team.
