How to clear your web browser cache

Clearing your web browser's cache may be necessary for the browser to retrieve the newest web content available from a website or web-based platform like Brightspace if you get the blank screen or UWinsite Student if you experience the “Not Authorized” error when trying to log-in. The exact steps depend of the browser that you are using:

 

Microsoft Edge

1. Open the browser and select Settings and more / three dots on the top right.

2. A drop-down menu will open, select Settings.

3. In the left navigation, select Privacy, Search, and Services.

4. Find the Clear browsing data section and select Choose What to Clear

5. Select Cookies and other site data, Cached images and files, and Clear Now

With your cache and data cleared, return to the site you were trying to access.

Google Chrome

1. Open the browser and select More / three dots menu on the top right.

2. A drop-down menu will open, select More Tools

3. Select Clear Browsing Data

4. Select Cookies and other site data, Cached images and files, then select Clear data. (Note: The time range should be set to All time for UWinsite Student.)

After the cache is cleared, return to the site you were trying to access.

Mozilla Firefox

1. Open the browser and select Menu / three lines on the top right.

2. In the left navigation menu, select Privacy & Security.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. In the Cookies and Site Data section, select Clear Data.

4. In the Clear Data pop-up, select Cookies and Site Data, and Cached Web Content then select Clear.

Note: These selections will not affect your passwords or other sign-in data. 

After the cache is cleared, return to the site you were trying to access.

Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer 11 is retiring and will go out of support on June 15, 2022. It is not recommended for UWinsite Student.
