Guest Wi-Fi (eduroam) - How It Works

Body

Guest Wi-Fi access is provided through the "eduroam" wireless network and are requested here. The University of Windsor offers guest Wi-Fi access in three ways:

  • Daily keyword used to text to a number and get Wi-Fi log in credentials
  • Ticket request for Wi-Fi access for a large event
  • Ticket request to create wifi access accounts for an individual for a longer duration

How it works

Getting credentials

  • Daily keyword:
    • Client contacts the IT Service Desk in person (lower level UCC 8:30am-4:30pm) or connect on Live Chat (Mon.-Fri., 10am-4:30pm) and is provided with the daily keyword
    • Client will text the daily keyword to 1-833-338-7626
    • Client will receive a text back within 5 minutes with the user name, password and instructions to sign in
  • Ticket request for large event:
    • A UWindsor faculty or staff member submits a ticket
    • A unique keyword that fits the event is created and provided to the person who requested the event Wi-Fi access
    • The keyword and phone number should be made available to the event patrons by the event organizers
    • The event patrons text the event keyword to 1-833-338-7626
    • The event patrons will receive a text back within 5 minutes with the user name, password and instructions to sign in
  • Ticket request for individual for longer duration:
    • A UWindsor faculty or staff member submits a ticket
    • Credentials and instructions on connecting will be sent to both the person who submitted the request and the person looking to get access.
    • Please allow 2-3 business days of lead time for the request to be processed.
