Edit Course Navbar in Brightspace

The blue navigation bar (Navbar) that appears across the top of your course site can be customized to include only the tools that you will be using in your course by following a few steps.

The blue navigation bar (Navbar) that appears across the top of your course site provides easy access to the various tools of your course to you and your students. Tools that you will not be using in your course should be removed from the Navbar to avoid confusion. Others can be added and the order can be changed.  Customize your course Navbar using these steps.

1. On your course homepage, hover over the right end of the Navbar to make the 3 dots visible. Click on them and select Customize This Navbar. Then click “Yes” in the confirmation pop-up box. (If you’ve done this before, you’ll see “Edit This Navbar” in the drop-down list, instead.)
   
2. To remove an item from the Navbar, click the “X” for that item, or if the item is under Course Tools, click Course Tools, then the “X” to the right of the item you want to remove, and then Save.
   
   
3. To add an item to the Navbar,
   1. click Add Links 
   2. Click Create Custom Link
   3. Enter a Name and URL in the appropriate fields and click Create 
   4. Click Add 
4. Click Save and Close.

IMPORTANT: Do not remove Course Admin from your Navbar. Students do not see this item and it allows you to access the Course Admin tool.
