Vacation Calculator

Summary

Vacation Balance calculator to verify the carryover into UWinsite People.

Body

In the UWinsite People Absence module, an employee's vacation entitlement is displayed in hours, based on the entitlement specified in the applicable collective agreement. For example, one day of vacation may be equivalent to 7 hours.

UWinsite People has been configured to calculate vacation entitlement based on a position’s collective agreements, employee groups or Employment Standards Act, whichever is applicable. Your vacation entitlement is accrued monthly, based on years of service, and this amount is displayed at the end of each month in the absence module. As you achieve higher entitlements, the accrual rate will adjust accordingly to reflect this.

For example, using a 7-hour day:

  • Seven full years of service equals 20 days of vacation entitlement. In hours, this translates to 11.69 hours per month, multiplied by 12 months, resulting in 140 hours per year, which corresponds to 20 days.

  • Fifteen full years of service equates to 25 days of vacation entitlement. In hours, this translates to 14.56 hours per month, multiplied by 12 months, resulting in 174.72 hours per year, which corresponds to 25 days.

You can verify your vacation carry over into the new system by using the Excel spreadsheet with a Vacation Balance calculator. You will need to enable editing to input your data in the spreadsheet.

Should you find a discrepancy in UWinsite People please speak with your manager to review the time. If needed, please your manager submit a ticket with the issue, our UWinsite People project team will look into the matter.
