Apple device fails to connect to classroom audio-visual equipment

Summary

Known issues with Apple products in UWindsor's technology ecosystem

Body

Symptom: Apple device does not connect properly with classroom AV equipment, failing to send video to the projector.

Environment: Applies particularly to MacBooks and iPads trying to access Crestron AV equipment used in UWindsor classrooms.

Cause: MacOS outputs HDMI to HDCP at all times. If the Crestron system or any device in the chain isn’t HDCP-compliant, the MacBook may refuse to send video.

Resolution: Try these workaround solutions

  1. use AirMedia with the Apple device

  1. use the classroom computer
