Qualtrics Surveys

Qualtrics is a comprehensive on-line survey creation service. These tools replaced Fluid Surveys and Lotus Notes based survey services provided by Web Services Group in the past.

Qualtrics is also used as a part of the system for registering vaccination status.  If you have an issue regarding being dropped from class(es) due to your vaccination status, this is not a technical issue, so IT Services cannot assist you. Please contact the Health and Safety Office at uwinvaccine@uwindsor.ca to discuss your vaccination status. Please also review your UWindsor email, and your alternate email address, for further information and instructions from the Registrar's office.  The Registrar sent warning notifications to everyone before dropping courses, which included steps to follow to resolve the issue.

With Qualtrics, you can create and analyze surveys, polls and online forms in minutes. It allows you to collect & analyze information online quickly and efficiently. There are a number of on-line data analysis features embedded in the service. Data can also be exported to popular file formats including comma separated values (csv), Excel and others. There’s even an SPSS export facility. Qualtrics provides the following features:

  • Unlimited Questions
  • Unlimited Responses
  • Report Generation
  • Report/Data Export including SPSS export
  • Advanced Branching
  • Advanced Question Types
  • Advanced Publishing
  • Extraction & Looping
  • Role Management
  • Panel Management
  • White Label Option
  • Group collaboration

The surveys are compliant with our current accessibility requirements as specified by AODA, 2005 (www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/statutes/english/elaws_statutes_05a11_e.htm). They conform to WCAG 2.0 AA Web standards (www.w3.org/TR/WCAG/).

The collected data is stored on servers located in Canada. No data is stored outside the country. This should alleviate concerns that people have that are related to privacy.

This service is available to faculty, staff and students. You must have a valid @uwindsor.ca e-mail address (UWinID) in order to qualify for an account. If necessary, researchers who are working with colleagues at other institutions may apply for a “friend” account so that person can access Qualtrics.

There is no cost to use this service but you must be prepared to do the development work yourself. The I.T. Service Desk will provide support if you have any questions or other issues that you cannot resolve by yourself.

University policy requires that anyone interested in doing any kind of survey must obtain clearance from Research Ethics Board or REB (/reb). There is an administrative survey policy that can be found on the Office of Institutional Analysis Web site at /info/adminstrative-survey-policy.

Account Setup

Self enrollment has been disabled in Qualtrics to attach additional governance and auditing to the process.

Please click on open ticket here to request a new account.

Once your account has been created, you will go to uwindsor.qualtrics.com to log in (do not go to the generic log in page at www.qualtrics.com.  Accounts created there are not under the University's account and we have no control over them).

We recommend that you take an online tutorial on getting started.
