I.T. Services cannot provide a high level of support on all software used on campus. I.T. Services is dedicated to providing the highest level of support possible for packages that are selected for full support. The selection of packages and the level of support given each package are determined by perceived demand, support available for similar packages, knowledge of staff, and the time required (and available) to learn the packages.

Employee Onboarding & Offboarding

I.T. Services will assist with I.T. related employee onboarding (workstation setup, office telephone service, access to systems and resources), and offboarding (termination of access, workstation redeployment).

New Computer Procurement & Setup

I.T. Services provides assistance to all departments with the process of procurement and configuration of computers (desktops and laptops).

General Software Support

License Request

Faculty, staff and students who would like to use software that is not covered by any of the campus-wide licensing agreements can submit a request to purchase a license.

Software Depot

I.T. Services uses the Software Depot web site for software distribution.

myUWindsor Mobile App

This app was designed with students in mind while also being useful for campus visitors, staff, faculty and alumni.

Sophos Virus Protection for Desktops and Laptops

University of Windsor partnered with Sophos, a leading vendor in the Internet security and virus protection software space, to implement virus protection on all computers connected to campus wired network by deploying Sophos Endpoint Security and Control.

Lotus Notes & Domino

IBM Lotus Notes and Domino Designer are legacy tools that were used by faculty and staff for e-mail, web publishing, and collaboration.

Blackboard Learn

Blackboard is the Learning Management System (LMS) that the University of Windsor supports. It is a robust system with several communication tools including Announcements, Discussions, and a Virtual Classroom called Blackboard Collaborate Ultra; multiple assessment options such as Tests and Assignments; and interactive tools including Journals, Blogs, Discussions and Wiki.

Drupal Content Management (University Website)

To support University of Windsor website, I.T. Services maintains a content management system (CMS) powered by Drupal. A CMS is a computer application that allows publishing, editing, modifying, organizing, deleting, and maintaining content from a central interface.

Microsoft Office 365 Portal & Apps

I.T. Services provides full support for these MS Office 365 productivity apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Visio, Project, Publisher. Older versions of Office and MS Access are not supported.

Microsoft Skype for Business

Skype for Business lets you collaborate with anyone, anywhere, on any device by having conversations using instant messaging (IM), group chats, voice, or video calls. See when your contacts are available online, in a meeting, or presenting. Present your screen during meetings or give control to others.

Qualtrics Surveys

Qualtrics is a comprehensive on-line survey creation service. These tools replaced Fluid Surveys and Lotus Notes based survey services provided by Web Services Group in the past.

Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS)

SPSS is the acronym of Statistical Package for the Social Science. SPSS is one of the most popular statistical packages which can perform highly complex data manipulation and analysis with simple instructions. It is designed for both interactive and non-interactive (batch).

TeamDynamix Ticketing & Project Management

TeamDynamix (TDX) is used by I.T. Services, Finance and a few other departments for project management and ticketing.

VMware

VMware is a virtualization platform that makes it possible to partition a single physical server into multiple virtual machines. Most of the University servers currently run as Virtual Machines (VMs) in our centralised VMware Virtual Environment.
