Body
The Auto-Complete List in desktop version of Outlook is a feature that displays suggestions and possible matches for names and e-mail addresses as you start to type them in the To, Cc, and Bcc boxes. This list is compiled by Outlook using names and e-mail addresses from the e-mail messages that you have sent in the past (recent contacts), and is stored locally on your computer. If you have Outlook installed on multiple computers, each instance of Outlook will have its own Auto-Complete List and they will not synchronise with each other.
In some situations, there might be entries that you want to remove, such as entries that are no longer current or accurate. To remove individual unwanted entries, do the following:
- Type the name or part of the name in the To field
- Select the unwanted entry by pointing your mouse cursor on it.
- Click next to the entry
To remove all names from your Auto-Complete list, do the following:
- Click the File tab.
- Click Options.
- Click Mail.
- Scroll down until you see Send messages section and click Empty Auto-Complete List button.
To turn off the feature, uncheck the box next to Use Auto-Complete List to suggest names when typing in the To, Cc, and Bcc lines
