Apple Hardware Procurement and Support

This article provides information on how to procure an Apple device with educational discount and how to begin a warranty call or correct a hardware problem for Apple devices.

Body

University faculty and staff can procure devices through our purchasing department with educational discount from Apple. Follow these steps to generate a quote for your new device:

  • Go to Apple's online store for Educational Institutions at http://apple.ca/go/edudirect 
  • Search for University of Windsor and browse as a guest on the University of Windsor store.  
  • When adding items to the cart, you can save the cart / have it sent by email. This "quote" can be used in UWinsite Finance to generate a purchase requisition.  

Existing Devices

IT Service Desk Consultant will diagnose hardware and/or software problem on a Apple product. If we cannot resolve due to a hardware/software problem, we will create a Case Ticket with Apple for your future reference. Information collected by IT Services will be captured from our diagnosis and shared with you and Apple. 

Software problems can often be resolved remotely by Apple and IT Services; hardware problems that cannot be resolved by us in-house require an authorized Apple Outlet. Windsor and Essex County, Ontario does not have an Apple authorized service provider nor does Apple allow devices to be shipped directly to them in Canada. 

Hardware problems with Apple devices requires you to bring your Apple device in for repair. All Apple devices are registered to the client following their purchase and acquisition, the process for covering hardware issues under your Apple Care warranty can also be initiated by the client at this web site:

Regardless, of the method to diagnosis you will require Apple's help for all hardware issues under warranty. For service, you must open a support request using the following link: https://getsupport.apple.com/ (Apple - Support - Product Selection). Once we have assisted you with the diagnosis and case # with Apple; you are able to call these outlets with a Case number and make a confirmed appointment for repairs.  IT Services recommends the following Authorized Apple Dealers located in Michigan.
