How to install the latest version of Oracle Smart View, a free plug-in for Microsoft Excel
Environment
Oracle Smart View for Office is a free plug-in for Microsoft Excel that enable users to integrate enterprise resource planning (ERP), enterprise performance management (EPM), and business intelligence (BI) data directly from the source.
Procedure
- Click on the following link: https://www.oracle.com/middleware/technologies/epm-smart-view-downloads.html
- Click on the “Download Now” button beneath the latest version offered, typically the first listed:
- Sign in to your Oracle account. If you do not yet have an account with Oracle, complete the steps in How to create an Oracle account.
- On the download screen, check the boxes to accept the license agreement and your software, then click on one of the Download buttons.
- Find your downloaded file in your browser or at File Explorer → Downloads:
- Close any open Microsoft applications, including Excel spreadsheets, Outlook and Microsoft Word.
- Click open the .exe file to start the download. This download will put the Smart View files onto your computer. Click on Next button:
- A .zip file will begin downloading to your computer. If instead you receive an error message, make sure you are still logged into your Oracle account.
- Once the download is complete, click on Open Destination:
- You should see the .zip file in File Explorer → Downloads:
- Double click on the zip folder to get:
- Double click on SmartView then click on Extract all:
- Click on Extract (keep Show extracted files when complete checked):
- From the newly created folder location, double-click on SmartView to start the install process:
- Click OK:
- Once the set-up is completed, you will see:
- Click OK to finish.
- Open Excel and click on Smart View → Help → About(z)… to check that you have the latest version installed:
- Click OK to close (keep Enable Add-in checked).
- You are ready to use Smart View.
