A: The Frank L. Smith Student Information System, commonly known as SIS, was developed internally and has served the University of Windsor very well since its inception in 1999 when it was a leading-edge solution.
As our student population has changed over the past 18 years their needs and expectations on what the system should do have changed as well. To make these changes to our existing system would require an estimated 14 years.
As such, UWindsor started to look for alternatives. Oracle’s Campus Solutions, a PeopleSoft product designed specifically for higher education, was selected after a thorough procurement process. UWinsite Student is UWindsor’s instance of Campus Solutions which has been modified where necessary to meet our campus’ unique needs.
