What to do when you forgot your UWin Account password?

In the event that you have forgotten your UWin Account password, or your account password has expired, you can reset it with:

  1. Your Security Questions
    • Go to account.uwindsor.ca.
    • Click the Forgot your password? link
    • Click the Reset with Security Questions tab to reset your password by providing the answers to your three security questions. Note that if you do not remember correct answers to these questions, or if you have not configured your security questions, you will not be able to use this self-service option to reset your forgotten password.
    • Once you have entered the correct security question answers, you will be logged into your account. From there, you can change your password using the navigation on the account dashboard. 
  2. Your Student Number & PIN
    • Go to account.uwindsor.ca.
    • Click the Forgot your password? link
    • Click the Reset with Student Number & PIN tab to reset your password by providing your Student Number and Personal Identification Number (PIN). This self-service option is available to students and applicants only.
    • Once you have entered the correct Student Number and PIN, you will be logged into your account. From there, you can change your password using the navigation on the account dashboard. 
  3. the IT Service Desk
    • Contact the IT Service Desk at 519-253-3000 ext. 4440

Please note that for security reasons, your UWin Account will be automatically locked following five unsuccessful sign-in attempts in five minutes. You will need to wait ten minutes, before you can re-attempt the sign-in process. This measure was implemented to protect your UWin Account from malicious attacks and attempts by others to guess your password.

Systems Affected

Please note that after resetting your UWin Account password you will need to update settings on some of your devices that have stored your password:

  • WiFi settings on your laptop, tablet and/or smartphone
  • account settings on your smartphone
  • account settings in Outlook on your computer

Your new UWin Account password will be in effect within 60 seconds on these systems:

  • UWinsite Student
  • Brightspace
  • UWin WiFi
  • Office 365 (including Outlook on the Web for email)
  • myUWinfo
  • IT Self-Service Client Portal (this site)
  • UWinsite Finance 
  • VIP (Human Resources)
  • COVID Self-Assessment on the Safe Lancer app

It may take up to 30 minutes for it to be in effect on these systems:

  • Websites on Domino servers (web4/web6)

The following systems do not use your UWin Account and you have to follow a different procedure to change their associated passwords:

  • FIS (JD Edwards) - legacy financial system
  • Lotus Notes
  • SIS - legacy student information system
  • Raiser's Edge (Alumni)
  • Qualtrics Surveys
