Connecting Computers and Mobile Devices to University of Windsor Wi-Fi

Which wireless network should I use?

The general rule of thumb is that students use eduroam, students living in residence use uwinreslife while in the residence only, and faculty/staff use uwinsecure. The steps below will walk you through connecting to any network and assumes that you know how to open your Wi-Fi settings. If you require assistance locating the Wi-Fi settings on your device, please visit the IT Service Desk with your device in the University Computer Centre.

 

Connecting To eduroam Wi-Fi

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings on your device and select the “eduroam” network
  2. If you are not prompted to enter any information, forget the network on the device and try connecting again.
  3. Depending on your device you will be prompted for different settings (may need to tap on advanced setting for Android). Here is the list of all possibilities. Fill in any you see (Most computers will only ask for Username and Password).
    • EAP method: PEAP
    • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
    • CA certificate: Use System Certificates (or choose "Do not validate" if this is not an option)
    • Domain: uwindsor.ca
    • Identity (username): Your full UWindsor email (example@uwindsor.ca)
    • Anonymous identity: Your full UWindsor email (example@uwindsor.ca)
    • Password: Your UWinID password
  4. If prompted to trust a certificate after signing in (mainly iPhone) tap trust.

 

Connecting To uwinreslife Wi-Fi

  1. Open Wi-Fi settings on your device and select the “uwinreslife” network
  2. If you are not prompted to enter any information, forget the network on the device and try connecting again.
  3. Depending on your device you will be prompted for different settings (may need to tap on advanced setting for Android). Here is the list of all possibilities. Fill in any you see (Most computers will only ask for Username and Password).
    • EAP method: PEAP
