Clipchamp (formerly Microsoft Stream on SharePoint) is a built-in, user-friendly video editing tool included with Windows 11 and is available online for Windows and Mac users.
It allows recording, editing, viewing, and sharing videos with those inside and outside the University.
Clipchamp Features:
- Enhanced recording tools: Teleprompter, laser pointer, background blur, screen and camera capture, and more.
- Transcripts & translation: Auto‑generated transcripts with multilingual translation options.
- Flexible recording options: Record directly from Clipchamp, PowerPoint, or Teams.
- Inline playback across Microsoft 365: Videos play directly inside Teams, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Outlook.
- Video analytics: View time watched, engagement, and viewer activity.
Microsoft Teams Meeting Video Storage: Microsoft Team’s meeting videos will be stored in the OneDrive of the person who clicked the record button in a special folder labelled “Recordings”. Channel meetings will be stored in a folder labelled “Recordings” under a folder named after the channel under the Team’s document library.
Permissions: All meeting invitees, except for external users, in non-channel meetings will automatically get a shared link to access the meeting recording. External users will need to be explicitly added to the shared list by the meeting organizer or the person who clicked the record button. For Channel meetings, permissions will be inherited from the owners and members list in the channel.
Where to Save Recordings: Meetings and videos by default are set to be saved to the creators OneDrive. If you would like to save the video to SharePoint, you can direct the file to the appropriate folder upon saving.
What is the difference between OneDrive and SharePoint?
- OneDrive is your personal work storage, tied to your UWin Account. It’s ideal for private files and individual work. Each faculty or staff member has a 20 GB quota, and files are deleted when the owner leaves.
- SharePoint, on the other hand, is designed for collaborative storage. Ideal for departments, teams, labs, and projects. Each site offers 25 GB of shared space, accessible by multiple users. Files remain in place even if a member leaves, ensuring continuity for the group.
