How to Configure Windows Hello for Multi-Factor Authentication

Objective

Configure Windows Hello for Business as an authentication method on a University-managed Windows device. 

Environment

  • University-managed Windows devices 
  • Intune-enrolled devices 
  • TPM 2.0-enabled hardware 

Procedure

Most university and grant-funded PCs will be pre-configured with Windows Hello for Business. If yours is not, follow these steps:

  1. Open Windows Settings 
  2. Select Accounts
  3. Select Sign-in options 
  4. Click on Windows Hello PIN
  5. Enter a numeric code at least 6 and no more that 12 digits long.

The next time you open your computer you will be prompted to sign in using your Windows Hello PIN.
