"Getting Started" guide for the editor of a departmental website.

If you are a content editor responsible for creating your department's web site or you would like to create one for yourself or group there are several items you need to consider to start the process.

These include:

  • What information should be included?
  • How is the information organized?
  • Who will maintain the information?

Public Affairs & Communications (PAC) can assist with the architecture for your site, its organization and what it communicates. The department includes: web architects, graphic designers, writers, and editors who can help you craft your message. All PAC services are offered at no cost to the campus.

PAC also controls access to the web, site creation and editor access.

Once you are confident in your content and its organization you can start to build your site. University websites are delivered using Drupal 7 open-sourced software.
Training courses and web support are offered by PAC to help support your role as content editor.

Our upcoming training sessions are listed on the Drupal support website.

If you need help with your existing website, want a new site, or want editing access your issues can usually be addressed by PAC or IT Services.
Both departments use the TeamDynamix Help System to track your requests for service.
