In SIS a student was notified by email when a seat became available in one of their waitlisted courses and within 24-hours they need to log into SIS to register.
In UWinsite Student a student can put him or herself on a maximum of three waitlists.* At the same time, they need to identify which course they want to drop if they already have a full course load. If a spot opens up in a waitlisted course that the student is eligible to take, they will be automatically enrolled in it and removed from the course they identified to drop.
This UWinsite Student functionality is known as Swap. Students can find it on their student homepage under Manage Classes > Swap Classes. It is important to note that this new functionality does not guarantee that a student will get into a waitlisted course.
* Students in the M.Eng program will only be able to put themselves on one wait list.
