LinkedIn Learning is an online platform that helps anyone learn business, software, technology and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals. It contains a video library of courses taught by recognized industry experts.
As of September 21, 2020, the Province of Ontario is no longer funding LinkedIn Learning for UWindsor faculty, staff, or students. Only the department of Computer Science has purchased licenses for their faculty, staff and students (2nd year and above). Individuals with Windsor Public Library or Essex County Library cards may access LinkedIn Learning through their respective library.
How do I access LinkedIn Learning?
If you have LinkedIn Learning license through UWindsor, go to to uwindsor.ca/linkedinlearning and sign in with your UWinID@uwindsor.ca and your UWin Account password.
If you choose to connect your personal LinkedIn profile with your LinkedIn Learning account, once you log in to LinkedIn Learning with your UWindsor credentials, you will be prompted for your personal LinkedIn profile credentials in the box below. If you do not remember your LinkedIn account password, click the "forgot password" link.
Do I need to link my UWindsor LinkedIn Learning account with my personal LinkedIn profile?
When you activate your LinkedIn Learning account, you will be offered the option of linking it to your personal LinkedIn profile. If you'd like to do this, have your existing LinkedIn username and password handy. Linking your UWindsor LinkedIn Learning account with your personal LinkedIn profile, however, is not necessary.
You'll also have the option of creating a new LinkedIn profile if you don't already have one.
One advantage of linking accounts is that you'll receive personalized learning recommendations based on your LinkedIn profile and on what LinkedIn users with similar positions are learning. Another is that you can preserve your LinkedIn Learning course history even after you leave the University of Windsor.
Once you leave the University of Windsor you will not be able to log into LinkedIn Learning with your UWindsor credentials, but if you have linked to your LinkedIn account:
- Your course usage data from your time at UWindsor will be preserved in your LinkedIn account
- When you again have access to LinkedIn Learning, your existing usage data will be added to your new LinkedIn Learning account
- The University of Windsor will not have access to course usage data created after you leave the University
Other information you should know
You do not have to have or create a LinkedIn profile to use your LinkedIn Learning account. They are separate systems.
If you do have a LinkedIn profile, you can choose to link it at the time you activate LinkedIn Learning or leave the decision for later.
Your LinkedIn profile can use a different email address than your LinkedIn Learning account. You don't have to use your University of Windsor email address for LinkedIn.
Linking your accounts does not give the University access to your private LinkedIn data. The University of Windsor can see only your name, profile photo and course usage data.
