At the University of Windsor, Microsoft Intune combined with Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) provides device and application administration, corporate data protection, identity management and directory services. There are multiple ways a device can be enrolled in Intune depending on its:
- operating system
- ownership status
- role
Windows
University computers purchased with University funds or research grants are enrolled as "corporate" or company devices. Devices purchased with personal funds that are used to access University systems, apps and data are enrolled as personal devices and referred to as Bring-Your-Own-Device or BYOD. Intune manages BYOD devices differently than company devices (see Privacy for more details).
To check if your Windows computer is enrolled in Intune:
- Go to Windows Settings
- Click on Accounts
- Click on Access work or school and look for one of these:
University Computers
All University computers running Windows need to be joined to Entra ID directory. During this process, they are automatically enrolled in Intune. If your existing University computer is not joined yet, please open a ticket and your departmental technician or IT Services staff will assist you. For newly purchased computer, open a ticket requesting the setup.

Personal BYOD
All personal computers running Windows that are used to access University systems, apps and data, have to be registered in Entra ID directory. During this process, they are automatically enrolled in Intune but only if the box "Allow my organization to manage this device" is checked (default).
macOS
Devices purchased with University funds or research grants are enrolled as "corporate" or company devices. Devices purchased with personal funds that are used to access University systems, apps and data are enrolled as personal devices and referred to as Bring-Your-Own-Device or BYOD. Intune manages BYOD devices differently than company devices (see Privacy for more details).

Look for the Company Portal app on your Mac device. Launch it, go to Devices section and locate your device on the list. If not there, follow instructions below to enrol it. If there, click on the device name to open its profile. Ensure there are no errors.

To check if your Android device is enrolled in Intune, look for the Company Portal app on it. If not installed, follow instructions below. Otherwise:
- Launch Company Portal app
- Sign-in using uwinid@uwindsor.ca as you login name and your UWin Account password.
- Tap DEVICES to display the listing of your managed devices.
- Tap the name of the device and review its information.
University Devices
University tablets running Android Enterprise can be configured as task devices and enrolled in Intune by following these instructions:
Personal BYOD
Personal smart phones and tablets running Android 11 or newer, should be enrolled in Intune by installing the company Portal app from the Google Play Store. For more details please see the following:
