Safe Lancer app is the official mobile safety app of the University of Windsor and an essential tool to enhance your safety at University of Windsor. The app will send you important safety alerts and provide instant access to campus safety resources. It also allows each visitor to campus to perform COVID-19 screening self-assessment and generates the QR code that is needed to safely check-in to each building on campus using the Safe Lancer Check-in kiosks installed at each building entrance.

Domain Name Services (DNS) is the Internet's equivalent of a phone book. DNS servers maintain a directory of domain names (example: uwindsor.ca) and translate them to Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (example: 137.207.71.196). This is necessary because, although domain names are easy for people to remember, computers or machines, access websites based on IP addresses. The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a network protocol used to assign IP addresses and provide configuration information to devices such as servers, desktops, or mobile devices, so they can communicate on a network using the Internet Protocol (IP). All IP addresses are dynamically allocated by our DHCP servers on both wireless and wired networks

Microsoft Teams is a collaboration platform that combines workplace instant messaging, online meetings, notes, and files. It is built on existing Microsoft technologies like Skype and SharePoint woven together by Office 365 Groups.

I.T. Services has deployed and maintains a number of firewalls, which are network systems that are designed to block unauthorized access while permitting legitimate network traffic. Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology provides secure remote access and secure data transmission between devices that are not connected to the University wired or wireless campus networks and University systems. The the Palo Alto GlobalProtect software that you can install on your computer makes it seem as if it is on the campus network by setting up a tunnel which encrypts all traffic between your computer and the University firewall.
