Scantron Test Scoring

Please be advised
Scantron services have moved to the Print Shop, located in Chrysler Hall Tower, Lower Level Room 01.

Please continue to submit your service request here, but drop-off and pick-up your tests at the Print Shop between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.   Understand processing of Scantron requests may take up to 72 hours (during business days) to process.

The Scantron software and hardware is used for computerized test scoring. Instead of filling out a paper form at the Print Shop, an on-line service request form must be filled out prior to coming to submit your package. Please record the ticket ID that is assigned to the request on the envelope that you submit as well as for your personal records.

Scantron Sheet Requirements

For the test scoring sheets, in courses where the instructor uses multiple test versions, it is common that they have the students write the version of the test on the top corner of the sheet. It is necessary to stress that writing on the sheet is acceptable as long as nothing is written above the red bar of the red test Scantron sheets. This area is reserved for form definition marks. With past software and hardware, this was not a large issue, but with the new software and hardware, the increased sensitivity makes processing such red test sheets more difficult. Writing on the red test sheets is okay as long as it is below the red bar.

Use No. 2 pencil only and fill in circles completely. If a student wants to change an answer when completing a test, they must erase the answer they provided completely and not simply put an X through it. If they simply put an X through a response and fill in another response, it requires personal intervention, which defeats the whole purpose of Computerized Test Scoring.

Instructors must sign their name over the seal of any envelopes containing tests before leaving the forms with the Print Shop. This allows the Print Shop to be confident that the tests have not been tampered with and satisfies the concerns of academic integrity.

Summary of steps:

  1. Obtain blank University of Windsor customized scantron forms from your department. The Print Shop does not distribute scantron forms. The current form version is M-F6668-2-65432.

  1. After completing the test using the above forms, create an "answer" sheet using a blank scantron sheet.

  1. Prepare to submit your tests by submitting a ticket. Select Open Ticket" button to the right.

  1. Bring the test (scantron form), answer sheet, and ticket number to the the Print Shop.

  1. The test will be processed by the Print Shop and the results emailed to a valid UWindsor email account.

  1. Return to the Print Shop counter to retrieve your completed test.

Important notes:

  • Do not staple or bend the forms

  • Student's last name, followed by first name, date, course number, and student number should be written in the allocated area and fill in each bubble that corresponds to the letter above it.

  • A space must always be placed between the last and first name.

  • When there are multiple answers marked per any question on the answer sheet, please indicate whether EITHER answer is correct, or ALL answers need to be marked to score the question correctly.

  • For each version of the examination, you must prepare an answer key sheet. Use the same form version that was used by the students.

  • Write the ticket number on the answer key sheet in the student number field.

  • Create a separate ticket for each version of the test.

IMPORTANT: These sheets are scanned and marked by a computer - the computer reads the filled-in bubbles - so you must ensure that the name, ID, and answers are filled in completely, darkly, and correctly with pencil. If the computer can't read your sheet - it won't know who to assign the marks to.
