Microsoft Visio and Project Licensing for Faculty and Staff

Our current licensing agreement covers the following Microsoft Office products, both online and desktop versions, that are available to faculty, staff and students at no cost:

  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • Publisher
  • Skype fo Business
  • Outlook
  • OneDrive
  • OneNote
  • Access (not supported by IT Services)

Microsoft Visio and Project are not covered by the current licensing agreement. With Office 365, Microsoft transitioned to subscription-based licensing. Licenses for individual products are purchased and assigned to individual users online rather than by entering Product Key on the workstation. Clients interested in using this software have the option to purchase the subscription-based license through IT Services at a discounted academic pricing.

Visio Plan 2 for Faculty 

Includes the same capabilities as Visio Professional 2016. In addition, such cloud-only features as Data Visualizer, Database Reverse Engineering, Improved Support for the AutoCAD drawings have been recently introduced. Plan 2 also allows each user to install Visio on up to five PCs running Windows 10, Windows 8 or Windows 7. It automatically installs the latest updates (both feature and security) for the duration of the subscription. Visio Online Plan 1 with 2 GB OneDrive storage is also included.

Project Plan 3 for Faculty

All of the Project Online Essentials functionality, plus:

Rich user interface through desktop client

Anytime/anywhere access through Web interface

Project scheduling and costing

Resource management

Publishing projects to the cloud

Includes the most current version of the Project desktop application, instantly streamed to your Windows PC.

Each subscription license allows for up to five concurrent installations of the Project desktop application.
