Teams - New Meeting Experience

The new meeting experience in Teams provides a few new features to make meetings better. Namely:

  • Meetings appear in a separate window, so that you can still access Teams chats, channels and files during a meeting.
  • The tool bar is now permanently attached to the top of the window, instead of floating and appearing when you move the mouse
  • New features such as breakout rooms are available.

To enable this on your Windows or macOS desktop, follow this procedure:

Step 1. In Teams, in the upper right corner, click on your avatar or initials and choose Settings:

Step 2. In the General section, under the Application heading, put a check mark next to Turn on new meeting experience:

Step 3. Restart Teams.  In Windows, right-click on the Teams icon in the task bar (at the bottom of your screen) and select Quit:

Then start Teams again from the Start menu.

NOTE: If you do not see this option, then check for updates first, wait a while, and try again.
