Updating the GlobalProtect VPN client on mobile devices

2023-04-06: IT Services is decommissioning the mobilevpn.uwindsor.ca VPN portal. This was setup several years ago to provide access for mobile devices (Android, iOS, Linux) to access campus resources remotely. It has been replaced by the securelogin.uwindsor.ca VPN portal.

Users with devices still using the mobilevpn VPN portal need to change the configuration of their mobile device to use securelogin.uwindsor.ca portal instead. 

Steps to update GlobalProtect VPN Client on mobile devices

The screen shots below are from an Android device. The process is identical on an Apple (iOS) device. 

1. Open GlobalProtect VPN client on your mobile device.

2. Click the Menu button (3 horizontal lines).

4. Click on the arrow to the right of the Portal entry.

5. Modify the portal value to point to securelogin.uwindsor.ca, then click Connect.

6. Wait for the authentication and MFA prompts to appear. Note that the MFA prompt can take a little while to appear. Enter your credentials and complete your MFA verification.

When GlobalProtect completes the connection, you’ll now be using the University’s newer, more secure VPN service.
