How to View Ungraded Assignments

Table of Content

Using Assignments Tool

An easy way to find assignments that have not been graded yet is to filter for submissions that haven't been "read".  This is not a perfect method but can be quite useful.

  1. Click Assignments in the nav bar.
  2. Click on the chevron (downward arrow) next to the assignment for which you want to view the ungraded list and select View Submissions.

View submissions is selected in the drop-down menu

  1. Click the Submissions tab.
  2. Click Show Search Options.
  3. Under Read Status click in the text box and select Unread submissions from the drop-down menu.
read status drop-down displays Unread submissions.
  4. Click the magnifying glass to perform the search. You will now see a list of submissions that need to be graded.

Note: if you or a GA/TA click on the submission link, the item will be automatically set to read but if the GA/TA clicks on the student’s name to view, the assignment will not be marked as read and the submission will need to be manually set as read .

Clicking on the student name doesn't mark the submission as read. Clicking on the submission will mark the submission as read.

Using Quick Eval Tool

  1. Access Quick Eval tool via the widget (by selecting View all activities at the bottom of the Home Page widget) or via the navigation bar (Course Tools > Course Admin and select Quick Eval).

  1. For the selected assignment, any new, ungraded submissions will be highlighted by the text "New Submissions".

Step 2 outlines the text "1 New Submissions" in the Assignment 1 tab of Quick Eval.

  1. Click on the number or text New Submissions and the page will redirect to the first of the ungraded attempts for grading.
