What is OneDrive Sync Client?

Tags onedrive

The OneDrive Sync Client is one of the apps included in Microsoft Office 2013 and 2016. It is a piece of software that once configured, lets you connect to and sync files from your University of Windsor OneDrive for Business.

Please note that you do not have to install the Sync Client in order to be able to access your OneDrive. Your primary method for accessing your OneDrive is though the web interface at https://portal.office.com . You should only configure the Sync Client on the computer where you want to have a local set of files that you have stored on your OneDrive in Microsoft's Cloud, or for the purpose of uploading a large volume of files and folder to your OneDrive in Microsoft's Cloud.

If you have Office 2013 installed on your computer, you already have the OneDrive Sync Client installed as well, although it is not yet configured to access your OneDrive. Becuase it is an older version that has many known issues and limitations, we recommend that you install the latest version before you configure it and start using it.

OneDrive Sync Client is available for both Windows and Mac computers. For step-by-step instructions on how to install the latest version of this software, and how to configure it to connect to your "OneDrive - University of Windsor", please see the Related Articles section on the right.
