If you are running Windows 10 with an older version of Microsoft Office (anything but Office 365 Pro Plus), you are halfway to Y2K20 but you’re missing out on all the latest and greatest features of Microsoft Office and all of the new collaboration tools that allow you to be more productive.
With Windows 10, you already have access to the latest operating system features – regular feature updates to keep your computer up to date with the latest functions and features, Azure Active Directory, single-sign on, and device administration.
Upgrading to Office 365 Pro Plus is a necessity for older versions of Office – such as Office 2010 and 2013. Effective October 13, 2020, Microsoft will no longer allow older versions to connect to Office 365 services. This means your Outlook will no longer get an e-mail, and your Office apps will no longer be able to work with files in the cloud. Office Pro Plus updates regularly, just like Windows 10, so you have access to the latest features when they become available, instead of waiting two to three years between new versions of Microsoft Office. This allows us to get the most value out of our Office 365 Subscription.
Some of the new features of Office 365 Pro Plus released over the past few years include auto-save – when opening your files from your OneDrive or a Group, they are automatically saved as you work on them; the ability to share Office files with others, both inside and outside the organization, and collaboratively edit them at the same time in the cloud; the ability to translate documents and pictures of documents into different languages; and the ability to encrypt, classify and protect your documents so only the intended recipients can see them.
Office 365 Pro Plus has a new AI-based insights service that provides suggestions catered to the task at hand. In Excel, Ideas help to identify trends, patterns, and outliers in a data set - helping you analyze and understand the data in seconds. In PowerPoint, Ideas will suggest layouts and images that can help make your presentation look professional.
Office 365 Pro Plus works best with your files on OneDrive and in Office 365 Groups. The default save location is automatically the cloud, so your files are protected and available everywhere, anytime. You can also open your Microsoft Office files directly from the cloud without having to sync them to your computer.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to run multiple versions of Microsoft Office on the same computer; your existing version will be removed, and Office Pro Plus will be installed and kept up-to-date automatically.
