Once you have added units and items to Content, you can easily navigate through the material. Students navigate in the same way.
When you click Content, the first thing you see is the immersive view of the Table of Contents. Units can be expanded to reveal the items within. To start, click any Unit title.
- The Table of Contents appears on the left-hand column. (See tips for using the Table of Contents below)
- Unit information or learning material will appear in the large space to the right.

- Use the Next and Previous arrows in the top right corner to navigate sequentially through the material.
- Jump to any item in the table of contents by clicking its title in the table of contents.
- Enter a search term in the Search titles, descriptions box and click the Search magnifying glass icon to quickly find matching course content. The results will display in a drop-down list below the search box. The search will only examine titles and descriptions.
NOTE: Search results include only items that you can access. Items that otherwise match the search criteria do not appear in the results if they have a future start date or an ed date that has passed.
- To leave the Content area, click the Content Back button (top left corner of the screen). This will bring you back to the immersive view of the table of contents and the course Navbar.
- Resize the navigation panel to maximize the content viewing area. Select the divider and two small arrows will appear to allow you to drag the divider with a mouse or a keyboard.
Using the table of contents
- Anything that has an eye-with-a-line-through-it icon, will not be visible to students.
- Wherever availability dates and due dates have been given, the dates will display in the table of contents.
- Icons in front of the topic titles visually identifies its type (ex. document, link, assessment).
- All items in the table of contents can be reordered using the drag-and-drop dotted bar that appears to the left of the title when you hover over the item. You can also use the keyboard when the drag handle is selected.
- Click the arrow to the left of a unit/lesson/folder title to view the topics within.
- There is no limit to the number of sub-folders within a unit, (but more than five can make it difficult for students to find material)
