Modern Desktop Upgrade

Microsoft has discontinued support for computers running Windows 7 and Office 2016 (or older). These computers will encounter performance or reliability issues that will affect the ability to access your files, email, as well as teach and collaborate online.

All University computers should be upgraded to Modern Desktop experience (Windows 10 and Microsoft 365 Apps). If your office computer was recently upgraded by IT Services or your departmental technician and you log in with your UWin ID and password, you are all set.

If you are unsure if your computer has been upgraded, please follow the appropriate steps below for your device type.

Windows

  • Click the Start menu in the bottom left of your screen.
  • Click the Settings icon.
  • Click Accounts.
  • Click  Access work or school.
  • If you see "Connected to University of Windsor's Azure AD. Connected by your UWinID@uwindsor.ca." your computer has been upgraded. No further action required.
  • If you see only a "Connect" option, please submit this ticket immediately. IT Services will contact you with next steps.
