How to Record Exception Time – Including Overtime in UWinsite People as a Full-Time Salaried Employee

Full-time salaried employees will automatically have a timecard generated in UWinsite People for each pay period. Exception time is considered anything above a regularly scheduled time for permanent full-time employees. Examples of Exception Time are lieu time, overtime, call in, etc. You will see the options in the drop-down menu that are applicable to your employee group.  

In your browser, go to UWinsite People page. Complete your single sign-on in UWinsite People System Access using your full UWinID@uwindsor.ca as your username and your UWin Account password. Then:

Overtime

There are two types of exception scenarios:

  • Connected to Your Shift: Additional time worked immediately before or after your regularly scheduled shift 
  • Separate from Your Shift: Additional time worked at any other time during the day or another day of the week when you are not scheduled. 

UWinsite People records overtime as Regular Time Fixed Salary under Payroll Time Type. 

Connected to Your Shift

  1. Under Me, select the Time and Absences.
  2. Select Current Time Card (if it's a past pay period, select Existing Time Card), if you would like to amend an existing entry
  3. Select the ellipsis and select Edit from the drop-down menu for the timecard period entry you would like to amend. 
  4. Then edit your Start or Stop time needed for the appropriate dates.
  5. Select Submit or Save and Close
  6. You can view the calculated overtime if you select the Calculated Time option, as follows:

Separate from Your Shift

  1. Under Me, select the Time and Absences.
  2. Select Existing Time Card
  3. Select the ellipsis and select Edit from the drop-down menu for the timecard period entry you would like to amend. 
  4. To insert a row on a timecard, you can simply right click on the timecard and can select an option to add or remove a row as needed; or comments as needed.
  5. Select the appropriate Payroll Time Type in the table. For recording overtime, the code will always be Regular Time Fixed Salary

  1. You can do this for multiple dates in the timecard period. 
  2. Enter the Start and Stop times. 
  3. Review the dates/times/hours you have added. If you are ready to submit, select Submit. 
  4. You can view the calculated overtime if you select the Calculated Time option, as follows:

For Call-In Time 

  1. Under Me, select the Time and Absences.
  2. Select Add Time Card.

  1. Select the appropriate Date and click on Add in the top right corner. 
  2. Enter the Payroll Time Type - Call In Premium in the table. 
  3. You can do this for multiple dates.  
  4. Enter the Start and Stop times (the actual time you worked, as the system configuration will calculate the correct pay per your Collective Agreement). 
  5. To insert a row on a timecard, you can simply right click on the timecard and can select an option to add or remove a row as needed; or comments as needed. 
  6. Review the dates/times/hours you have added. If you are ready to submit, select Submit

Note: Only time cards in submitted status are routed to your manager for approval.

If this is for a previous pay period, please select Existing Time Card instead of Current Time Card.
