Currently, local settings for password complexity on Apple's macOS devices are more stringent than those for the UWin Account password. In particular, Apple does not permit what they call Simple Passwords that contain:
- repeating consecutive characters in their password, for example "tt" or "44"
- certain character patterns, such as "utu" (as in Autumn)
- certain common words or phrases, for example "password" or "apple"
- sequential characters, such as "123" or "abc" or "qwerty"
Symptoms
Mac users who have these in their UWin Account password are running into sign-in issues once platform Single Sign-On (SSO) feature was enabled on their account. The following error message is displayed: "Your password does not meet the local password policy requirements."

Workaround
Change your UWin Account password, as follows:
- Launch your web browser and navigate to https://account.uwindsor.ca
- Sign in with your UWin Account
- Select Change Password from the menu
- Ensure that you do not include any of the problematic character sequences mentioned above in your new password
- Wait about 20-30 minutes after changing your password then reboot your Mac
- Enter your new password when prompted
