XEROX Files - Steps to Manually Overwrite Internal Hard Drive using Control Panel

The University of Windsor is updating its Xerox fleet and deploying the PaperCut print management software during Intersession/Summer 2024. The information below pertains to older Xerox machines without PaperCut and will be archived once the refresh is complete. Please see Xerox/PaperCut Upgrades 2024 for the most up-to-date information. 


By default, files stored on the Xerox copiers/printers internal hard drive are removed nightly at 12:00 am. If you wish to change this behaviour and switch to manual removal of these files, please follow these instructions:

NOTE: The overwrite will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.

  1. Press the Log In/Out button on the Control Panel.
  2. Use the keyboard to enter the user name of the administrator's account.
  3. Select the Next button.
  4. Use the keyboard to enter the password of the administrator's account then tap on Done button.
    NOTE: The Default user name for the machine is admin, the default password for the machine is 1111
  5. Press the Machine Status button.
  6. Press the Tools tab.
  7. Select Security Settings.
  8. Select Image Overwrite Security.
  9. Select Disk Overwrite Now and make sure that Stand Overwrite is selected
  10. Click Overwrite Now.
  11. Click Overwrite Now again and the process will start. It will take approximately 45 minutes to complete and the machine will print out a confirmation report that it was completed
