Frequently Asked Question and Answers about paying a Research Scholarship to a Student

Research Scholarships are paid through UWinsite Finance. Find some FAQs to help you troubleshoot any issues you run into.  

Q: There are multiple RA scholarship recipients can I include them to one Supplier Request? 

A: When there are multiple Research Assistant Scholarship recipients, you can use one ticket. Please ensure you select Research Scholarship under the Payment Type field in the drop-down menu. This selection will flag your request as a bulk submission to our Suppliers team, allowing them to prioritize it appropriately. Learn more at : Article Content - How can I add a new Supplier?

Q: What if you aren’t seeing the Procurement or Purchase Requisition tile in UWinsite Finance? 

A: Your UWin ID has not been granted access to the Procurement Module to submit a payment request and purchase orders. Please consult with your department, and either have a delegate submit on your behalf, or submit a ticket to provision access to the procurement module by Requesting Access to the Payment Requesting and Purchase Orders. 

Q: What if the student is not appearing as a supplier? 

A: If this is the first time the student is being paid a scholarship, a Service Ticket must be submitted for the Student to be set up as a supplier. Once the ticket is submitted, the student will be contacted to provide the applicable information to receive an electronic fund transfer (EFT). Then the student will be setup as a vendor, their name will appear as an applicable Vendor in the UWinsite Finance address book.  

Q: What should you do if the project number you want to assign isn’t available?  

A: You may not be setup as a project participant on the project account and do not have the ability to charge the account. If you do have authorization to charge the account, please follow the knowledge-base article How can I add a team member?  

Q: What if the Task Number 1.1.1.Research Scholarships and Bursaries is not an option? 

A: Please consult with your Project Manager or resfinance@uwindsor.ca, as a scholarship may not be an eligible expense for the project. It will be determined if the expense is eligible, or they will adjust the account as necessary for the charge. 

Q: How can I review the status of the payment requisition?  

A: In UWinsite Finance, click Procurement and select Purchase Requisitions. Your recent requisitions will be listed on this screen. To view all submitted requests, go to Manage Requisitions. This will allow you to search all your requisitions. If you want to see where the requisition is in the approval workflow, select the applicable REQ#, select Actions on the top and choose View Document History.
