Microsoft SharePoint (Sites/Teams/Groups)

Microsoft SharePoint is a cloud-based service that helps University of Windows faculty, staff, students and community partners share and manage content, knowledge, and applications to empower teamwork, quickly find information and seamlessly collaborate across the organization.

You can manage and be a member of multiple “teams” aka SharePojnt sites, allowing you to separate different groups or projects based on who is involved or needs access. A team can be divided into sub-teams using “private channels.” Each department has a main departmental team for your entire department, with separate private channels for subunits in that department, and regular channels for social events, official announcements, department-wide projects, etc. These regular channels can be viewed by anyone in your departmental team, allowing you to keep things organized. Every channel has its own group messaging thread (all communications are instantly on screen), a shared file storage space, and the ability to add various other Office 365 applications directly to the channel. For example, every channel can have a Planner plan built into it to track tasks in different projects. Teams is the ultimate collaboration tool in O365. Teams brings everything together into one interface that is available as a desktop program, mobile device app, or online in your Internet browser.  Ultimately, Teams is designed to give you a platform for getting everything done in one place: communication, editing and collaborating on files, sharing information and updates, and more.
