After graduation, UWin ID will automatically transition from "Undergraduate Student (U)" or "Graduate Student (G)" to "Alumni (A)" type.
E-mail account will remain active but alumni are not licensed to use Outlook desktop app to manage it; they need to use Outlook web app.
Alumni, using their @uwindsor.ca email addresses are not able to:
- Schedule a Teams meeting
- Be a member of a Team or channel (however, alumni can be added to a team or channel as guest user using their external e-mail address)
- Upload a file to a Teams meeting chat
- Access Stream videos, unless they are enrolled in Continuing Education courses
Alumni, using their @uwindsor.ca email addresses are able to:
- Access a @uwindsor.ca mailbox using the Web version of Outlook to send and receive messages
- Join a Teams meeting
- Open a shared file link on-line
Sharing with Alumni
If you want to share resources with alumni then you are limited to: inviting them to Teams meetings where they can participate, and sharing links to documents (or folders) from OneDrive SharePoint. You can share a folder for read only, or for reading and writing and they will be able to create files. Since alumni don’t have access to Microsoft 365 Apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint (desktop or web), they will need to have their own personal licence to be able to create the files, but they can open (and possibly edit) existing shared files.
Sharing videos in Stream with alumni is not possible unless they are Continuing Education students. Only alumni who are enrolled in Continuing Education courses are licensed to have access to Stream videos.
Microsoft 365 Apps
Under our current licensing agreement with Microsoft, alumni are not entitled to any Microsoft 365 Apps (formerly Microsoft 365 Office) such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. except being able to access their email account using MS Outlook web app. Since alumni accounts only have Exchange Online Plan 1 license, they also do not have access to OneDrive.
Additionally, alumni accounts cannot be used to sign into Windows on any Intune-managed University workstations (eg. computer labs, classrooms, etc.)
